Palmbomen II is celebrating the release of his new four-part album "Memories of Cindy" with a live set. Coming out on January 26th on Beats in Space, the record is an intimate collection of eulogic, supernatural house music made for a muse and to bemuse those who make (first) contact. A haunted memory hole of hardware grooves, celestial synth pads and lonesome vocals, Kai Hugo’s warped west coast vantage has never seemed so surreal but certain.
Minimal Wave founder Veronica Vasicka is joining the Beats in Space party. Since starting MW in 2005, Vasicka's record digging and tireless archival work has shone a light onto a generation of obscure bands and producers. Much like her label, Vasicka's DJ sets focus on overlooked DIY synth and industrial records from the '70s and '80s. Its musical remit soon became a kind of genre in its own right. Vasicka also runs another label, Cititrax, which she uses to release new music that doesn’t fall into the Minimal Wave sphere.
The night will be helmed by Beats in Space founder Tim Sweeney. Running every Tuesday night on WNYU, the show has put to air some of the biggest underground talent in the world, as well as showcasing the best New York has to offer. The show turned into a label, which has released the likes of Tornado Wallace, Lauer and Palmbomen II. Since 2016, Tim has been producing records with Lauer as T&P.
